winter tire noob needs help with a quick question!

Would 16" Steel Wheel 5-108 (universal x41658) on Michelin X-Ice Xi2 215/65R16 98T tires be a good choice for a set of winters for the 2012 focus?

Sounds like a winner to me. I dont know about the Michelin's. They were to pricey for me. I've used Hankook Winter I-pike's on a Dakota and they were AMAZING. Last year I bought some Cooper Weather Masters and we didnt get snow here in Detroit. I would check tirerack.com for reviews. A big yes for steel wheel though.

Thanks for the reply, just wondering if 65R will clear since the recommended width is 55R

I'd stick with 215/55-16 for one good reason....I don't think they make a 215/65-16. Even if they did, I doubt there would be any performance enhancements going with that size. And yes, the Michelin X-ice is a very good tire. Many consider it just as good as some Blizzak models and usually a little cheaper than the Blizzaks.

Thought you said you were interested in 215/65-16's. Are you now considering 15" wheels? Hakkas are very good snow tires (maybe the best). Hopefully they weren't stored outdoors or in the sun as shown.

I'm interested in anything I could find used because I'm trying to save money :) It's just hard to find because most of the tires/rim packages I can find used are from volvo's which there aren't too many of in my area

Make sure to double check the wheel offset. On a steel wheel its usually stamped/engraved on the rim of the wheel. It's usually two number and sometimes preceded by the letters "et".
