What do you guy's use for pads on a DD car? semi-metallic's, ceramic's or what? I'm looking to replace my Napa ceramic's.

semi metallics are my usual daily driver choice
decent pads with new cheap rotors
NAPA's are usually pretty decent
It seems the major benefit of ceramics is they don't get your wheels as dirty?
I don't know what brand is on my focus, they were done just before I bought the car. Too cheap to throw away perfectly OK parts, but they are noisy when cold, could grip better, and just don't seem to wear at all. 12K miles I have put on the car, they still look as thick as new in box pads. I was thinking of trying the HAWK HPS (fderro-carbon pads), I have had good results using their products on other cars.

I like semi-metallics as well. They have good initial bite and are fairly fade resistant. I've had good luck with Mintex AF's on the Focus. My favorites are Axxis/PBR Metalmasters but they're difficult to find anymore. I'm experimenting with Centric rotors and Centric Posi-Quiet semi metallic pads on my Mazda6and so far the results have been really good for this budget combo. Hawk HPS is actually a semi metallic blend and works really well for daily use, spirited street driving, and limited track use (lapping).

I've had Hawk HPSs on every car we've owned for the last 10 years. No issues, good performance.

I'm with Geezer, Centric Posi-Quiets, I had them on my Superduty and Excursion, getting ready to put some on my Grand Caravan and then the Focus, great pads!!

I use EBC greens, and other than the first stop before getting some heat, theyre pretty good. Centric blank rotors as well.
there is no getting less dust on SVT brakes LOL

That's one of the main reasons why I don't like a lot of so called high performance pads for the street. When that little kid runs out in front of you (and even if your only going 25mph)you want immediate and maximum braking efficiency. You don't want your butt puckering and having to look for bailout like a curb or the neighbors front yard to avoid the little sucker. A good street performance pad has a wide temperature operating range meaning they provide maximum bite when cold and resist fade when hot.
