Omni kit skepticism

Ok so i understand the concept of the omni kit but are there any down falls to using it. could you slam 06+ using the kit or is it only for stuts and shocks. Can coilovers be adapted to it? I just started reading into these the other day so i am not really sure about it

It's literally just a sleeve that goes around the bottom of the strut housing. It doesn't matter if the strut is a standalone part or one of the components of a coilover system.

What exactly is the difference in the mounting between years. I always thought there was a different pattern on the strut tower

The bottom of the strut was designed to be bigger around for 06-07. In order to make 00-05 struts fit, you just need to add some extra width, hence the omni-kit.

The 06+ struts have a bigger base diameter, therefore the hole in the knuckle that the strut fits into is also larger. 00-05 struts have smaller diameter bases that can be used on an 06+ with the Omni kit which is a shim that fills the gap that would otherwise be there. The only caveat is that an 06 spring also has a different seat configuration and cannot be used on an 00-05 strut and vice versa.

I'm currently running this kit to go with my Megan Racing coilovers, and i've yet to have any problems with it, just make sure the sleeve is snug against the strut mount or the strut is liable to fall out, which again i've not had any problems with. just trust in your focus man :]
