Tire time

I have some 15 spoke svt's and i need to get tires for them. I was doing a spring cleaning today for my dads fab shop and came across brand new falken tires, a 205/40/17. So my question being will it make the tire look streched? I dont like the look but at 150 mounted and balanced i might just do it. Thanks for the advise!

SVT wheels are 7 inches wide. Most tire manufacturers specify a 7-8" rim width for that tire size so you should be good to go from that standpoint. The only downside is that that tire is about 3/4's of an inch less in overall diameter than stock size. Not a super problem but it does result in a shorter sidewall, throw the speedo and odo off, and will alter you final drive ratio a little (better for acceleration but higher RPM's at higher speeds which effects mpg, etc.).

It's right at the point where you're dangerously too small. 1010Tires suggests not to go beyond a 3% difference in OD, and you're right at 3% with 205/40. I personally wouldn't do it if I were shopping for new rubber, but $150 for a set of new tires is hard to pass up.
