Powder Coat 5 Spoke SVT

Hi everyone!
I always wanted to get myself a second set of wheels for the winter and nicer set to use in the summer with some some wheels. This was absolutely necessary given that this is my DD and, living in Chicago, I experience all of the seasons. So I ended up purchasing a set of used 5 Spokes that were a little rough. I originally was thinking of stripping and repainting them myself but little did I know. First off, if you have the 5 spokes this is going to be extremely difficalt. Long story short, there was much more work that needed to be done to them beyond trying a stripper that would affectively remove all of the paint and underlying primer. So I decided to powder coat the wheels and this is what I ended up with.

Did you have to do any prep work or just drop them off. They look great, thats what I want to do with some 5 spoke or 6, but cant find any local. What did the coating cost if you dont mind?

They look great.
How about some pics of them mounted on the car?
I like the 5 spokes painted the same color as the body, so long as it's black, charcoal, or grey.
I can't wait to put the rattle can painted (dark grey) 5 spokes on my dark grey ZX3 when I use up the current 16" tires a little more; I was too cheap to spend $ 200 on powdercoating.

They look great. Yes it does take time to prep them for paint.

Thanks for the good words. I didn't have to prep the wheels at all. The pre pictures look scummy because I tried to strip them myself but I could have dropped them off new and they would have powdered them for me. The cost for media blasting and coating the wheels whatever color and finish I wanted was a flat $240. I thought it was a fair deal for great looking wheels!

I'll take pics of them on the car when I get it clean. I originally wanted to go satin gunmetal or satin silver but was told that the satin top coat deteriated after a couple years and would require a retouch. This Tech Black finish in contrast does not require a seperate top coat and has a satin black finsih like I wanted. It just seemed like the right choice... and it def was.

What did you pay for the 5 spokes? I am looking at some Contour SVT 5 spokes, decent shape, one with fair amount of rash, others good, 4 excellent tires, offered 250 and he accepted. Gave deposit and pick up tomorrow. Need to repair the rash, prob myself, then the question is, spend huge amount of my time prepping and rattle canning or just send for powdercoat...

^ I want to say that the wheels were around 150 or 200... I don't really remember. I bought the wheels around 7 months ago. Wasn't that much tho, thats how i justified the powder cost. Spent another 350 for UHP summer tires.

Ta DA! These pictures aren't that great but my old man is spraying my SVT bumper so I don't want to bust out with the slr for some "hot shots" until then.
