Even more impressive seeing that you drive a wagon. Right there with a z06. Person in the firebird must have known how to drive.

thats great man! I have been looking to get into a 2002 ZTW manual and do sport suspension with a 17in wheel...any advice on the suspension fitment(anti-roll kit/shocks etc)? Never had a first gen focus.

well first off i WISH mine was a stick this automatic in the first gen focus is by far one of the worse shifting tranny ive ever driven but for 10 years old its smooth .. now my advise on suspensions is .."maintenance" the wagon comes with the bigs sway bars front and rear exp for the svt front witch is only 1mm bigger so check your bushings and sway bar end links first !! then all your shocks should be checked or replaced and then some great tires and ull be surprised how hard u can push that wagon . i was on 4 different used tires and still did good and it was my first time racing autocross ever .. i dont wanna lower mind for two reasons i daily drive back roads alot and ITS way to expensive for konis or kyb all around also it bumps me up a class in auto x im gonna do good tires on the stock 15" and poly bushings for the sways and thats it if i find an svt sway bar cheap ill do that one day

now that i talk your ear off this is what ive done in the 6 months ive had it
timing belt water pump
belt tensioner fail and replaced
full tune up exp fuel filter is next... using copper plugs (sp 468)
new sway bar end links
and lunch box deleted cus the lunchbox is ugly thats all
all done at home super easy engine to work on i hated ford most my life but the ZETEC was so simple to work on and i got it cheap is why i got one and im enjoying it
:-) i miss mr mr2 alot but it could be worse

Thanks for the input scooby. I think I'll be doing mostly daily driving if I get the ZTW, but it good to know it turns pretty well, and your times dont lie. I was thinking ksport coilovers for lowering while retaining ride quality...$1050 for the 4 corners, plus any alignment hardware...

The stick is pretty rare, and I think I finally found a first gen under 100K at the right price (one owner, serviced/sold by the same dealer that is now selling it). Just gotta see if the timing belt/clutch/water pump have been replaced yet, as they seem to be the common issues.

yours was a great deal at 2K! and under 80K miles is great.

Look forward to more autoX updates from ya. best of luck!

yeah i love my wagon it was extremely well maintenance i know cus i was the guy at the shop she brought it too but she bottom out hard bent the sub frame she was gonna trade it in so i bought it .. got a sub frame for 60 bucks from a junk yard and bam love ... i feel like the wagon already alil bit of a harsh ride for a eco box i couldnt imagine on coils lol but it would be fun around turns .. im scared the poly bushing alone are gonna make it too stiff haha comfort wise that is
