HELP! Driver side front tire rubbing on strut!

Just bought this car and didn't know much about it. So I thought the ball joint was bad because the front driver tire is all off track. The top of the tire is pointing inward toward the engine bay and is rubbing on the strut. I replaced the ball joint, cv axle, and tried to adjust the alignment thinking it was off but nothing has made any difference. I don't know what else to adjust and don't have the money to take it to a shop. Does anyone know how to get a handle on this? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the forum

You didn't notice the tire touching the strut when you change the cv axle and ball joint? You probably have a bent knuckle. It's the big solid part that everything bolts to. I'd go to a junk yard and pull one off of a car that wasn't wrecked in the front. It would be your cheapest option. Any model year from 00-04 should fit. The only ones that are different are the 05+ and certain 02-04's (which are the SVT models which doubtful you'd run into any). I needed to replace mine on my SVT since I also had the top of my tire leaning inwards. My SVT was side swiped before I bought it. It would also rub on the fender under big bumps. Replaced the knuckle and no more rubbing.

I did notice the rubbing before I did all the work but thought the ball joint would fix it. The car had been in a fender bender before the previous owner said. So it could be the knuckle itself? It doesnt look bent or anything, there's no shine on any of it but I guess it could have gotten covered in grease. Is there anything else I could try on the cheap?

we need pictures but my guess is there is something bent that shouldn't be causing the wheel to be cambered in, but thinking that makes me wonder what because the way it would have to bend to do so. Bent strut is possible. knuckle could be bent as I know someone who came across that before.

I don't know how to post pictures from my phone on here. I guess I will start calling jy's tomorrow. Mabey I'll put a new strut on just to see if that's it. With this exception I do like the car though. :)

Are either of those junkyards open on Saturdays? I'm about 2 hrs. away from Tacoma but it would be worth my drive if they are.
