Yep, newb question about wheel adapters

So, here it comes. What options exist for the Focus to run a different bolt pattern wheel? I know there are adapters, but I wouldn't know a good brand from an Ebay knockoff when it comes to those. Are there custom aftermarket hubs with a different bolt pattern? (I know that would mean new brakes too)

I don't really wanna deal with fill and redrill, so sorry if you were going to suggest that. Are there any concerns about using adapters? I know some people say that pushing the wheel that far out is bad for the car, but we have a Volvo 240 race car at work that we run with adapters to fit C4 Corvette wheels. If the suspension doesn't fall apart on a race car with adapters, I don't see why my DD would be a death trap.

If you're wondering why I am so anxious to ditch 4x108, well, it's not exactly a foreign reason. The selection of 4x100 wheels, for instance, is much wider. Enkei doesn't make any of their racing wheels in 4x108, but quite a few in 4x100.

i think the adapters would space the wheels out too far. i think the volvo would have more room for that kind of thing.

redrilling the rotors and hubs for 4x100 would be better imo

You mean space them too far out to fit? I could always just use a wheel with a greater offset, right?

Adapters tend to be much thicker (for structural reasons) and end up acting just like a spacer. Most adapters that I have seen are 3/4 to 1" (20 to 25mm) thick and sometimes more. Your wheel offset would be reduced by a corresponding amount so you need to account for that.
