Question New Girl Needs Help! Ford Focus Questions!

Okay, so...I'm a girl, who has NO CLUE about my car! My bf typically does not explain things to me..he says he takes care of it so I do not really need to know anything...

I want to start understanding my car more, and want to start off with a few easy things first...I tried looking on google, but the web sites I've been finding arent that great! so here I go!

What size Rims fit a 2001 Ford Focus?

What is the Difference between Rims and Wheels?? lol

What are some good brands?

I do not need the most expensive, I just dont want to have hub caps...they keep flying off! they are just awful!!!! Thanks to anyone who is willing to give me some insight! :)

The Rim is the outer part of a wheel... what you are looking for are wheels.. not rims...

our lug pattern is 4x108

Many manufacturers make wheels for us, I would suggest looking on tirerack.com input your cars info, and boom a selection pops up.

Stay away from ebay junk.

Some brands off the top off my head are, enkei, motegi, oz, spaarco, and sport.. there are many tho.

deleted ur other thread u had. please try to refrain from posting multiple threads about the same topic. also, moved this one to wheels, tires, brakes.

if u wanna browse some wheels, visit one of our sponsors, tirerack.com. put in ur cars info and browse the wheels that will fit.

Also, I wouldn't go with anything bigger than a 18" wheel. I mean you could, but it would look funny. If you plan on lowering your car make sure you pay attention to the wheel offset as well to prevent rubbing. I believe the ideal for a focus is >40mm. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

wheel vs. rim Ok this is starting to get annoying...
Sorry for the bluntness of it. It was a bit of a rant at the time.

Like everyone else said, check out tire rack to get a sense of what is out there.
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...1&autoModClar=
Also check put XXR wheels.

Also.. stay away frome chrome wheels.

There is only 1 Focus on this site that looks good with chrome wheels. And I'd even like to see him get rid of them lol. Honestly, in my opinion some of the best looking wheels on the Focus are the wheels that came on the SVT Foci. Either the 5 spokes, EAP's (European Appearance Package) or the 6 spoke SVT wheels. All in 17's.

Also, Motegi makes some good looking wheels. As does Kosei (the K-1's) and Team Dynamics.

Those should be some good starting points.

A 2001 focus will handle anything from a 14" to 18" wheel diameter with 15" to 17" probably being the most common. A lot will also depend on wheel width, offset, and tire size.

If you have wheel covers I'm guessing you currently have either 14 or 15" wheels. If it were me I'd keep those for snow tire use (or you could sell them as there's always a fair number of FF members looking for these for winter use as well). Naturally if you change wheel diameter you'll have to get new tires as well. To save some money you might want to consider 15" wheels as they along with the tires tend to be more affordable than other sizes. As mentioned, there's lots of selection on Tireracks site. They'll deliver the tires mounted and balanced and all you do is bolt them on. If you use their car model selection guide, they guarantee fitment so you don't have to worry about picking the wrong size, offset, etc. They'll even select the proper tire size for you and your car (you just select the tire brand and model you like). We have a Tirerack rep (Trevor) assigned to help Focus Fanatic members and he can assist you with the purchase or answer any question you have by e-mail or the phone.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with ebay stuff, if you do your research and take your time you can get the most amazing deals on great quality stuff. If you just buy the first thing you see you'll get what you paid for.
