What are those ring things called?

Some time back some one posted a picture of their new wheels and they had some kind of colored dress ring or something that went between the bead of the tire and the rim and it was red i believe.

What are those called? i cant seem to find them. I then you let the air out of the tire and push it inbetween the tire and rim then air it back up and the pressure of the tire holds them in place?

wheel trim? wheel moulding?

humm maybe i need to market these? i thought ive seen them on wheels around here? or maybe it was part of the wheel and i just didnt realize it.

plastic or a rubber kinda stuff but have it in many colors, stripes, metalic, chrome

Like an accent for the wheel?

would look like this

the pointed part would wedge inbetween the tire and the wheel, the round part is all you would see and you could sell it in strips and cut it to fit any size wheel.

now all i've got is someone putting those rubber door ding protectors that go on the edge of doors onto their wheel lips where the weights go (provided their wheels have that lip).... but the pointed edge says otherwise. i dont know... dont think it'd be all that great since more & more OEM alloy wheels are using tape weights outboard and the clip on weights inboard.

I used some door trim on my daughter's accord with steelies. Unfortunately, only one stayed on. They went on very tight. There is some kind of adhesive inside. I think maybe the heat from the brakes softened up the adhesive.

Yeah i put some of that stuff on my door and the heat made them slide down a little not even on the wheels and they moved.

Im thinking i might try some rubber hose. put a slice down the tube and poke it inbetween the rim and tire.

Or maybe some heat shrink tubing with a small screen tubing pushing inside it to give it some shape.

I am also wondering this. It seems to me that anything of this nature would just fly off at freeway speeds. Im not a huge fan of things flying off my wheels and damaging things in their path.
