Looking for good tire for hard Summer daily use and ocasinal drag racing ...

I'm more interested in what 'street tires' the boosted guys are using since they suffer from the same loss of traction issues as I. But obviously I'll take all advice.
Looking for a 205-?-16 for the stock fat 6's.

I don't care about tread life in the least. I want something affordable that has predictable grip and isn't a slick (DOT or otherwise).
Buddy tells me I should pick up some Kumho AST's or ASX's; and honestly the price is amazing, or at least from how he raves about them. I just don't know.

I'm thinking of going with the ASX's in a 205-40-16 variety simply from a weight standpoint. It looks to be the lightest tire for a low profile in my ballpark.

SO my requirements are:

- light
- great grip both straightline and cornering
- predictable
- size (I'd like to stay in the 40 or 45 sidewall range)
- price (near that $400/set is a nice range, but I'm open to more if need be)

I have ASXs on my summer wheels. ASXs handles pretty well for an all season tire. I also ran my fastest drag time in them as well. Good traction in rain too.

The ast will wear super fast, have you looked at the Dunlop dz101, and a 205 40 16 is not that comfortable of a tire you will feel every *g bump in the road

Based on the drag racing component and minimal wear criteria, I'd suggest a summer tire with minimal siping. Both of the Kumho's mentioned have lots of siping which is good for wet weather grip but lousy for optimum dry traction (causes the tire to squirm too much and potentially chunk). Look for tires with big tread blocks like Dunlap Star Specs or the Falkens mentioned above.

So it looks like I'll be going with BFG KDW 2's, 205-40-16. It's odd but the 40 and 50 series have a little wider width, which is why I'm not going with the 45. Odd but I'll take as big a footprint as I can on these pizza cutter rims.

Noise, ride quality, feeling every bump ... of no concern to me at all.

I personally like the g-Force Sport COMP-2 better. My drag racing friend loves them on trans-am. The last KDW equipped car I rode in was super noisy at 45-60.

Note, get the comp-2, that's the new compound.

I'll throw a +1 for the g-Force Sport COMP-2's, it's the tire I'm getting when I finally get my rims on. Another options is ContiExtremeContact DW's, I have those on my racecar and they are excellent.

Any Max Performance or Extreme Performance tire will give you the best traction for street and strip. Such as...

Bridgestone Potenza RE-11

The 205/45R16 and 205/40R16 limits your options. A 205/50R16 gives you morre choices.
Continental ExtremeContact DW
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
