Conti DW or DWS?

I am fortunate enough to have a family member who works at Continental Automotive Systems - so via tirerack.com & the employee discount, I can get Continental ExtremeContact DW or DWS 205/50ZR16 for $56 per tire.

I have a separate set of wheels for winter, I have tried several types of Summer tires on my ZTS over the years. I don't need an all season - when it starts to get crappy out I just get my 15" steelies with winter tires installed.

Smooth ride, low tire noise, and good handling are most important to me.

So, I would like to solicit the opinions of you fine folks: Should I get the DW or the DWS?

Thanks!

Go with the DW tires if you have a dedicated set of winter wheels/tires. They both get great reviews but sounds like this set isnt going to see cold or snow.

Haven't you answered your own question?

Just remember summer tires have lousy traction when temps get below 40 degrees or so (snow and sleet not required, tread compound just turns hard like hockey puck) and that happens a fair amount in the Michigan Spring and Fall.

If the highest performance is what you are after, go for the DW. If you want comfort and mileage go DWS. They are quieter and more comfortable. Depending on your driving style, the DW will give at the most 25K on a focus. DWS can get you upwards of 40K or more.

Just put the DW on my car. Very quiet and much smoother than my stock Kumho tires were. I am very happy with them.

I have the DW on my 2001 BMW 740i and I love them. I also have dedicated Toyo winter tires as well.
