Tires for autocross and track

All,
I am running my 2003 SVTF on autocross once a month and on a road-course track about 4 times a year, plus to work once in a while. It is doing VERY well, but I have destroyed my tires. They were Nittos. Now I need tires for mostly autocross and quaterly track use. So my questions are;

1) What are the best tires for this use (must be DOT legal)?
2) What are the best brake pads for this (I currently have slotted and dimpled EBC rotors with NAPA Adaptive One pads front and rear).

Last weekend, we ran at TGPR in Alabama and the little car beat a Porche 977 Turbo by over a second a lap (no lie). It was a two day event. On Saturday, folks laughed at the little econobox. On Sunday, they wanted to know what they could do to make their cars that fast. My car is stock, except for the rotors and a MSD coil pack. What a mighty little car it is! H stock is a good place to be!

well, since you dont want R-compound tires, i would switch from H stock to STF (better pax), then i would start looking at hte popular autox street tires (140 tire wear). they would double duty well at track days.

im a Rcomp racer, so i cant offer any other particulars.

hte is the typed too quickly, done it myself...

STF is a new class for street tires, from early reports not many are showing up prepped for the new class, so there aren't even enough folks attending to run it as a separate class - which is why as you mentioned you might need to stay where you are due to the # of people competing in your area.... Ya gotta have someone to run with.....

Luck!
