Question Struts not installed correctly

I installed a M-3000-ZX3A SVT suspension this past Friday. The struts, and front springs came pre-assembled. After I put everything on, I noticed the lock nut on the top of the strut wasn't all the way down to the o-ring. I tried to tighten them, and broke the allen socket.

EDIT: Both left, and right struts are like this.

Anyone else have this issue? There are no noises, and no other issues. Am I worried for nothing?

That allen head is for an allen to hold the strut piston still while you tighten the nut down with an open end wrench. And yes it has to bottom out for the install to be correct.

I used an 18mm wrench on the nut while holding the the center with the allen socket. The nut doesn't go down any further. The fronts came in the box this way.

That just doesn't look right to me. Every Focus suspension I have done always has a good 1/2 or so inch of the main stud sticking up out of the nut afterwards.

If it were me I would remove one strut and take the spring out. Then I would just take the nut and thread it down onto the strut and strut mount to see truly how far its supposed to go without the risk of a spring exploding up in my face.

Maybe the nut got cross-threaded and that's why it's binding.

I'll have to take them out, and have a better look at them.

If they are crossthreaded, that would be kinda crappy, since they don't have any type of warranty.
