205/55/16

will i have any rubbing issues with this tire size? i'm currently on Rota Slipstreams 16x7 and I currently use the stock tire size. i'm dropped 1.5" all around with my Saleen kit.

the reason i'd like to change it up is to see if i could get a little better tire life out of my tires. i'm thinking it could also close up the wheel gap that i have. anybody have any experience with this setup?

FYI: bfGoodrich Traction T/A 205/50/16 FTL!!! i bought these 50000 mile tires and have only been able to get 27000 miles out of them. next tire i'm choosing is going to be the Goodyear Eagle GTs.

you may have rubbing issues with that drop, because your installing a taller tire of course.

and i sold tires for many years, and i can tell you that the bfg traction t/a is 100X better than any goodyear product, i would look into something else and stay away from goodyear, and thats from my personal experience with goodyear tires, and the ammount of problems in encountered with them from selling them over the years. for every 10 gy problems i had maybe 1 bfg problem, and i sold about twice as many bfg tires.

We use 205/55-16 snow tires on the stock rims along with a 1.5 inch drop and do not experience rubbing issues. As far as reducing the wheel gap, don't excpect anything major. While the 205/55 is about 1/2" taller than a 205/50 it will only reduce the gap 1/4" or so.

well, you're the tire guy. what tire would you recommend? i'm just not very happy with the Traction T/As and their 50000 mile warranty. my alignment is in spec with what Ford wants:

F 0.05 Toe
R 0.31 Toe In Total

Most suspension guys would say these specs are good for lowered Foci. I was hoping I'd at least get 40000, but 27000 is insane. I'm going to have to take them to Sears and get them warrantied out.

if you looking for an all season, from what i had sold in that size 205-50-16 the traction is the best bet. and i had several customers get over the 50000 mile mark on a focus, and bought another set.

i see your in tx so you could go with a sport tire, i do like the bfg g-force sports, which will be the tire will will be buying in the next few days for my svt rims. they wont last 50000 miles more around 20000-25000 but as far a griping the road its a good bang for the buck.

i would also recommend just about anything from bridgestone but they will run you more $$$

It seems like you have to factor in the offset of your wheels to really answer your question. I'm going to be purchasing some 16' slipstreams myself soon and am riding around on the cup kit. I've got no issues with my SVT Euros @ 215/40/17. I'm curious what your outcome will be for you and for myself. Don't mean to jack your thread. Good luck.
