annoyed with tires rubbing

Hey peeps Happy Easter first of all! Ok so I am having second thoughts on this Ford Racing lowering kit I installed on my 07 ST. Anytime there is a hill or road that has a lil slope in it i can here the tires rub. I swear this kit is lower than the 1.5 they claim. I have 215/45/17 tires. Should I get a 205/45/17 instead? Help me out here! lata!

Yeah those kits are actually 1.5" when you first install them but after a bit they tend to settle a little bit farther I have seen. 205/40's would probably be a better set up. Is it just the fenders that its rubbing on? Or is it topping out all the way. Just have to remember to check the speedometer after you have the new tires installed though because I think it throws the speedometer off -3mph from actual speed. Doesn't seem alot but it is if you think that you're speeding just enough to get by from a ticket and you're actually going 3 mph faster than what you think. lol

He has SVT wheels apparently which have a 49mm offset.

As far as tire size a 205/45 would put you closest to the stock diameter sizes with a 17" wheel.

yeah it just seems like the shocks ford racing provides are not tuned for the drop. Unless its my tire size. What if i did like a 215/40/17 tire because isnt the middle number of the tire size the percent of width or is that the height. I dont think the tires actually hit the top of the wheel well i just believe they are rubbing on the fenders lol. ANYONE else have this problem?

I wonder if I would have been any better with the H&R Touring kit? I think the problem is that the svt wheels have such a high positive offset that they stick out too far. Maybe i can find another wheel with like a 38 offset like enkei or falken and try that haha. Oh well as long as i dont drive the car extremely crazy it drives fine but the point of the suspension was to have some fun with it haha :-(

Going to a smaller tire would be the opposite. You'd actually be traveling slower than the speedometer showed.

215 is the width in MM, 40 is the height- 40% of 215 MM and 17 is obviously the wheel size.

yeah but the ford racing lowering kit for the 2000 is completely different than the one for the 05-07. I had the one for the 2000 and the drop is not near as low as the drop i have.

well b16 told me mine would DEF settle more than the 1.5 inch drop it claimed. I think your tires are too wide for your drop. Try a 215/40 tire or even a 205/40. What is your offset of your wheels? If anything MY 40 offset wheels should rub... but don't
