rim size performance.

What rim size would be the best performing size for grip (road course, auto x,etc..) its 16'' right? i had an arguement with my buddy today on the issue, for the focus, 16'' rim with good rubber ftw? or 17?

there pretty close, but i have to say 16. because on a lowered focus you can run 16's and lower profile tires to prevent rubbing.

For all out performance you want the lightest tire wheel combo possible and you want that weight as close to the hub as possible to reduce rotating mass. A 15" performance wheel and tire combo would be ideal, they're just hard to find and don't clear some of the performance brake combinations.

if not 15's, 16's are perfect imo. the only problem is tire selection is a little limited for 16's versus 15 or 17

225/45/15 even better. Wider, shorter, and lighter, but the selection is limited to very high end street and race tires.

Bigger rims can have bigger brakes...........

Either 16 or 17, decide on a tire; then pick the matching rim

215/40/16 is a commonly overlooked size if you absolutely must have larger than SVT brakes.
