When..if ever...do you replace springs.

Sounds like an odd question but of all the cars I have owned (and most of my friends for that matter) I can never remember replacing the springs(except to lower it). I'm getting ready to replace the shocks/struts (Eibach)and if I was to replace springs now would be a good time to do it. The car has been lowered @1.5" can't remember the brand of springs or struts (FR racing I think) but both have about 80,000 on them, don't race or autox just my daily driver.

So without further delay, the question...when if ever do you replace the springs?

Springs do not need to be replaced unless they have been damaged. They essentially will last forever.

Too bad. I usually use the "It needs to be replaced anyway." excuse on my wife to buy upgrades.

I am sure you can slip something past her nose Randori. Just tell her you're investing the money into a vacation fund or something lol. And now for Focusedat50's question, as for changing the springs I wouldn't recommend it unless you are planning going with a different set up in which you want to have progressively matched springs and struts. That is about the only time I would change the springs at all. But if you are going to stick with the same type of set up I would just order some new shocks and struts. Sometimes you run across the problem of a spring that has lost tension or the spring has been tampered with before but that only happens on very rare occasions. I would see what kind of springs you have and see what strut and shock matches up to those springs and you should be ready to kick some ass and take some names again
