Lowering my SVT?

So I am thinking about lowering my car. I was wondering though, would I have any problems with my tires rubbing? I know ppl have lowered thier SVTs but it just looks to me that the tire would go right up to the Under side fender. I also have 225 tires, not the stock 215s. Advice?

hmm thats a good question. with the factory size rubber and rims you shouldnt have a problem but with the wider tires you prolly will have some rubbing on the outside edge when you hit hard bumps. what kinda of springs are you looking at and what type of height drop will it give you.

ya depending on the drop and the kind of wheels. you should be fine. You can always roll the fenders and be set!

I always hear about rolling the fenders... sounds like an involved and expensive project, no? lol

rolling fenders is when the inner side of the fender has a lip, when lowered the lip will dig into the side of the tire, so you get a fender roller or a baseball bat and roll in the lip to make it flush with the fender, so you don't rub on the inside of the fender

like so...

fender pulling is when the fenders are pulled out to accomidate wider wheels, that requires body work and is on the expensive end...

MOVED to "Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension"

I also have 225 tires, not the stock 215s.
225's will be tight, especially on anything other than the stock offest 49mm wheels.
In fact, a lot of people rub with 225's and no drop on the SVTF.

Yeah i was rubbing when I hit bumps and stuff, but I sorta flattend the lip on the under side. I was hoping to get like just a 1 - 1.5 inch drop. The springs I am not too worried about as long as they are good springs.
