Tire size for 7.5" wide rim

Hey all,

I finally found a set of wheels with the correct offset for the front of my Focus and I need to find tires that will work. The wheels are 18 X 7.5 and I would like to fit a 215/35-18 or a 225/35-18 tire but I can't have the side wall of the tire extend out more than 1/4" or so past the rim edge. I would prefer the 225's as then I could match the rear tires, does anybody have 225/35-18's on a 7.5" wide wheel that could let me know how far they stick out past the wheel edge? I understand there will be difference between different tires but I wan't to at least get close.

Thanks in advance!

Mark

I could be mistaken with 18's but on a 7.5 in a 17'' I believe 225's run a risk of rubbing especially with any suspension mods.

i have 7.5x18 with 215-35s. I would say they are maybe outside the fender a quarter inch. as for rubbing i just installed my eibach pro springs friday and have had no problem so far with rub. the ride with the 215's is a little rougher tho due to the smaller sidewall.

I'm inclined to think 225/35's will rub badly. 225/35/17's will sometimes rub, so 225/35/18s will.

OOPS, I should have given more info!

Hey all,

Thanks for the responses but I think I left out some info that might be important!
The car is a 2000 wagon with a 4.6 DOHC cobra motor, the front spindles are from a Mustang Cobra with 14" rotors. What I want to find out is if I can fit a 225 tire on the 18" rims so I need to find out how far they will extend out past the rims edge, the car has air struts so that is where the clearance is the problem. Again, thanks for the info but it might have helped if I actually gave all the info in the first post.
