Will a 215/45/17 tire fit on these?

I have the Motegi FF5 wheels and they came with 205/40/17 tires and would rather bump up to a 215/45/17 for a beefier tire. I would also like to have a smoother ride and fill up the wheel gap a bit more.

Here are the specs for my rims:
Size: 17 x 7
Bolt Pattern: 4 x 100 / 4 x 4.5
Offset: +42mm

I am only asking this because I don't know much about wheels or tires and I haven't seen anyone ever run a different tire than a 205/40/17 with these wheels. So can a fit a 215/45/17 tire on them?

Thanks!

I just copied that off of a website, but I already have the wheels and they fit on my car. They are the 4x108 so I just need to know if I can fit that tire on them.

As long as you don't have a substantial drop, the 42mm wheel should be OK with the 215/45/17.
Otherwise, you might look into a 215/40/17, which comes in a little shorter (23.8") than your stock diameter (24.1").

One thing to note:
The 215/45/17 (24.6") will make your speedo read a little slower than actual.
^^^Indicated 58.5mph will be 60mph actual, so it's not that far off.

yeah it will fit fine. i ran 215/45/17s on my 17x7 42 offset wheels and it was fine with my 1.6" drop unless i went around turns very hard and hit a bump..

The best tire size for the MTX-75 as far as gearing goes is a 205/45/17. Also keeps a decent sidewall height for wheel protection.

I diagree you cant really say there is a best tire gearing for all applications, you really need to pick a tire size to your power level and application.

if I got tires that short i would be roasting 2nd all the way through the autox course and would have to shift 2-3 3-2 a lot.

As far as keeping the gearing stock on the car the 205/45 IS the best bet. Its only a decimal of a percentage difference in overall diamter compared to the other sizes. A 215/40 is smaller and the 215/45 is around 2.5% larger than stock. I agree that you must choose the best size according to your mods and such but honestly on the street, if you drive like a human being you aren't going to notice the difference.
