What is the difference between Stress Tower Bars and Strut Tower Bars

I need help understanding the difference between the two! I have a 2000 CD Silver Ford Focus SE and I'm trying to put on some performance parts, but I having trouble. Looking around at different Ford Focus sites, iv'e seen the Focus Sport Stress Bar for about $99.99 and then I had seen a Strut Tower Bar for $64.99 at new edge performance. I just want to know if both Bars will perform the same job or if the Stress bar is better then the Strut Tower Bar. Can someone please let me know what the major difference is, thanks.

Im pretty sure its just a different name.. they both should do the same.. but beware some dont do anything, some are just for decoration.. those tend to be the cheaper ones..

Yeah. Different name, same part. Some people refer to them as "stress braces", some people refer to them as "strut tower bars". It's the same thing.

I refer to them as "something to lean on" while working on the engine. I even got the chrom-moly ones and even though it feels a little stronger it is nothing to write home about. I got a hell of a price for it though way below what steeda or CFM seels them for so i can't complain to much

well, i'm pretty the Focus Sport Stress Bar is a strut tower bar, but be warned..... THERE IS SUCH A THING AS A FRONT STRESS BAR AND IT'S NOT A STRUT TOWER BAR! the stress bar is a piece that connect the two lower A-arms and is meant to keep the car straight at launch (ever notice how the car wants to jerk towards the right at hard launches?). i don't have a pic right now, but you'll know it when you see it bc it lookes NOTHING like a strut tower bar.

I thought that the jerk you expierence is from not having an LSD. Something called torque steer. Too much power going to one wheel and not enough to the other... hence the pulling and one rubber strip after trying to do a burn out.

yeah, it is, but this bar kinda helps that. what happens is that the one side tries to turn hard, causing the whole arms to flex (mainly around the bushings). this bar connects both sides and helps keep everything striaght. i guess you could accomplish the same thing from stiffer control arm bushings. this bar is by no means a replacement for an LSD, but it does help.
