Wheels on 08, pros/cons

I've asked about wheels before and I still haven't got any yet, reason being is there is only enough money in my budget for wheels/tires and no other mods and while I prefer the SVT EAP wheels I've never seen a picture of them on a car that is not lowered. I'm concerned that it will look ridiculous if I put 17s on there and don't lower it, Does anyone have any pics with EAPs on a car that is not lowered? I'm thinking about just going with 16s (Enkei Gf-1s) and likely not lowering it so I can autocross it in H-stock, any pros/cons?
Thanks,
Zac

You could go with the 17" wheels and lower it a little bit and still race in H-Stock!
The SVT Springs are a wonderful thing!

You'll also need the Omni-Kit from Massive though to run SVT springs in you '08. But all in all, I think the wheels would be total hotness!

It would look better lowered, but not too bad w/o. I don't think ridiculous is the right description... unless you think your car looks ridiculous now. There are plenty of cars that come stock with tall suspensions and 17" wheels these days. No worries. the EAP wheels are killer looking IMO.

Are the Enkei's lighter than the EAP's? I assume that would make a difference.

No you can't. Even though the wheels were stock on a focus, it wasn't an option on non SVT focuses.

Wheel width and wheel diameter must remain the same as stock.
Also, the SVT springs lower the car, so you can't use them either in stock class, unless you run an SVT.

Don't wanna burst your bubble, and to most local clubs they probibly wouldn't even notice, but technically that would put you outside the rules and you would have to jump classes. All it takes is one person to notice and challenge it. Especially if you are doing well in the class.

no that would put you in SM class.

H stock is just that. STOCK.

You can get away with some mods at local and regional level but if it comes down to points.... you'll lose every time.

No, that would just be STS. You can go pretty far on the suspension and run STS. SM is when you get into serious engine mods and weight reduction.

Does your club run a "tire" class - basically a stock class where R-comp tires aren't allowed?

If you're looking to just have fun, build the car you want and run wherever you end up. Problem with Stock is you must run stock diameter and width, and get R-comps if you want any chance of being competitive (if you have alot of serious H Stock drivers to run against).

Also BTW - the EAPs and all SVT wheels are pretty heavy suckers (21+lbs).
If you decide to go 17in, edgeracing.com has Enkei RS7s and RSVs at 17.5lbs, and at a pretty good price.

And I actually have a set of Kazera KZ-V rims that weigh in at 17.5lbs. I was just about to buy a set of EAP rims, but the weight factor killed it for me.

Huh???

Although, not just serious engine mods will get you into SM. For example, a carbon fiber hood on an otherwise stock car will put you in SM, reasoning, weight reduction. So you can have the reduction without the power. Just to expand on what eventerke said.

But definately not wheels, tires, and a suspension. STS for that, as previously stated.
