Tire info/help

So I decided I am going to be getting a set of EAPs (next month hopefully, if not definitely in April) and am having a tough time deciding on tires. My first problem is size...I'm thinkin I want 215/45s but I can't seem to find anything in that size (on TireRack.com - which is most likely where I'll order from). Second is brands...any suggestions? I had 205/45 (iirc) Dunlop Direzza DZ101s last summer on my R-1 wheels. Looking to get something different, but similar. Who knows, I may even get a second set of them. Any help and opinions are much appreciated! Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to add, I have the FRPP suspension kit (1.5" drop) which will be going on as well.

I've got 215/45 Dunlop SP Sport 9000s. Good tire, but it is pricey. However, it has saves my wheels from denting.

My son's ZX3 has 215/45 Nitto NeoGens on 17" Euro wheels and he loves them. Not much highway driving but they're quiet and stick well. Not many miles on them yet so no longevity report. You'd have to go to Discount for the Nitto's. I got mine at a local store from a buddy and got a great price. I struggled with tire choice and went with the Nitto's.

TireRack should have dozens of tires in the 215/45-17. Its one of the most popular tire sizes there is! 17" is what your looking at, correct? With wheel offsets of 45 to 49 mm this tire size will work well with a 1.5" drop.

First, thanks everyone for your responses!

Second, with a search for 215/14/17, ultra high perf./high perf. tires, and "do not include runflats" I got 19 tires.

The tires that are in my price range are:
-Yokohama S.drive
-Sumitomo HTRZ
-Kumho Ecsta SPT
-General Exclaim UHP
-Fuzion ZRi
-Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval
-Avon Tech M500
-BFGoodrich g-Force Sport
-Dunlop Direzza DZ101
-Dunlop Sport SP2000

Does anyone have any experience with any of these (besides the Direzza DZ101s)? I will spend no more than $120 per tire - I cannot justify ~$200/tire. These tires are going to be used on a daily driver. They MAY see autox, but not definite. They will be driven on some rough roads, not with huge potholes but with lots of stones and such. Again, thanks!

Is this tire going to be used all year (thus an all season tire). That will reduce your list somewhat. I also suggest you look at Discount Tire Direct (shipping included in prices), Vulcan Tire, and Edge Racing for additional options.

No, its a summer-only tire. I will check out those other places, but the biggest reason I was lookin at Tire Rack is because they sell the EAPs too, and I was going to have them mounted. Thanks!

I have heard great things about the BFG G-Force Sport's...I know both Chris (klondike) and Pete (illinipo) run them, or have run them in the past and swear by them. I plan on picking up a set when it comes time for new tires...

There's no "go along with the crowd" choice out there with maybe one exception. Falken Azenis RT-615's which the autox folks like. Other than that one, most buy research off of consumer reviews/ratings to determine what they can afford. I ran Conti ExtremeContacts in 215 40 17 and loved them. That's an awfully wide tire size and with my Eibach Pro System +, returned handling beyond necessity for a daily driver.
