Help me with finding a tire

1. How aggresive a driver are you? (BE HONEST)
Aggressive
2. In what sort of application are you driving? (Commuter vehicle, weekend toy, occasional track/AX use)
Commuter but interested into getting into ax. I will be going FI so I need a tire that has good traction.

3. What sort of environmental conditions play a role?
Live in south. Lousisiana gets alot of rain, so I need a tire that handles well in rain.

Im tired of my Pirelli's only lasting 20k miles. Plus I just bought some 2003 SVT wheels. So Im looking for some 215/40/17 .
thanks

Your not going to get 20K from a tire used for all the purposes mentioned. You have to be honest with yourself. If you truly are an aggressive driver, 20K is very good mileage on practically any tire. A tire that will meet all your intended goals will be a soft ultra high performance summer variety which rarely achieve that kind of mileage. Good mileage and high performance rarely go hand in hand. You need to be prepared to compromise especially if mileage is a key factor. If so a high performance all season tire should be considered. The harder compounds of these tires allow them to last a little longer if properly cared for.

if u want a good all season performance tire, i think the nitto neo gens are pretty good. they have a lil harder compund so tread life is longer. had em on my fofo since sept. and they still look brand new. nice and grippy also. i also had the toyo proxes 4 before the nittos. they were a good tire also but, tread life was kinda short.

Since you will never see snow, im going to recommend a Summer tire. category is Ultra High Perforance Summer, but average treadlife for users on this forum (with occaisional AX) is about 20-25k miles. Rain traction it ranks in the top 5 in the category.

BF Goodrich g-Force Sport
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=g-Force+Sport

anyone who uses them absolutely swears by them. its like the once you go black you never go back thing, but.... you get the idea.

I AX on these tires on 16" rims, they complain very little even when they were nearly bald. Good tire to learn on, imo.

Once i got kumhos for my car, i wont ever go to another brand. those things stick real good to the road even with my heavy ass rims i got on my car. I just got my svt suspension install and cant wait for spring to come. Rain wise, ehh just dont drive a jackass and youll be fine

go with kelly fierce hp's, i just bought some for my focus, 2154017 and they are freakin awesome i have tried almost every decent tire and so far this is the best riding, smooth, low noise and awesome tread design, they are way better than the 2154517 mastercrafts i just had, like on a scale of 1-10 they are a ten compared to the mastercraft avengers. oh and i am a very aggresive driver, takin corners to the limits.the website is fiercetires.com

Personally I have been quite impressed with my Firehawk GT's with the V rating.

You shouldn't have any problems with the drop.

Good luck!

So would you guys go with a 215/45 r a 215/40? Im guessing the 45 would last a little bit longer on tread right?
