Moved to "Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension"...

When you say, "All around", do you mean an All Season tire?
Do you need it to work in the snow?
How about at an AutoCross?

I encourage you to search these forums a bit, as there's lots of threads on the subject.

I like these for my daily drivers, but I would never run them in the snow:
Kumho Ecsta SPT-Reviews and Feedback <<< Kuhmo SPT
I have a dedicated set of wheels and tires for the winter months.

I have run all the tires mentioned so far (Kuhmo SPT, Bridgestone RE960AS, General Exclaim UHP) and find them all to be great tires. The Kuhmo and UHP are summer only, the Bridgestone is all season. Can't go wrong with any of them.

My personal favorite for the SVT is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. It feels like a very soft, very forgiving tire until you realize your speeds are exceeding the OEM Conti's by 20-30%. And they are as good in the wet as in the dry. They have very precise and shallow turn in angle, and are forgiving at the limit. You can actually cross over and back the limit without much fanfare.

Only caveat is they are summer only. Like the SPTs, don't even think about snow or ice.

Thanks guys. I meant all-season. But maybe I could find another set of wheels and get summer and winter. Thanks again.

who says the kumho ecsta isn't an all season tire... I've been running them all winter and only nearly died 3 times.

I also have the Kumho Ecsta and they are terrible in the snow. I am working on getting a winter wheel/tire combo for next winter.

Continental ContiExtreme Contact all season. They are great all seasons, good grip in dry, do good in wet and decent in snow. They don't last for ever but are faily cheap.

I drove my car once with my set of BFG g-Force KDW 2 tires in the winter. I was never as scared for my life as I was that day. And it was only slush on the ground, not even snow!

If you need to drive in the snow, stick with all seasons and not high performance summer tires. Unless of course you invest in another set of tires/rims for the winter.
