Thumbs down Rear Shock Noise

2003 focus SE 4 door sedan.
Last week it started making a thumping scraping noise in the rear shock area. I installed 2 new Gabriel Ultra shocks. Still had the problem, Looked on this site & found out to put a spacer in the top bushing in the trunk, still have the problem. I installed 2 new motorcraft Shock insulators on the top of the shocks, still making the noise. I took the shocks off the car & test drove no noise, so i figure its in the shocks. I got in the trunk & had my wife drive & I believe its coming from the tops of the shocks.
Any one have the answer, Thanks Ed

After further searching Ifound info helpful could be in TSB #17298, If anyone has info on that.

I found the fix on my shock noise, Lower control arm bushing was bad. You need to replace the hole arm. Ford does not have the bushing only. Hope this helps. I will tell you this, its not a easy job getting the arm out. Good Luck. Ed

Thumbs down Still Have Noise in Rear????

I changed both lower control arms, one was bad. I still have noise coming out of the rear suspesion. I have a squeeking noise on the bushing having 2 bolts bolted into the body(tie-bar knuckle unit) The bushing looks ok though?
Also I still have that top shock noise scrapping, I can see where the top of the shock rod is scraping the insulator when i take it back out. New gabriel shocks, new insulators. Any helpful info would be great..Ed
