Question Svt Rim Width

i have enki rims 17" for my 2000 focus zx3. All the tires on the rims are slashed. :( :(. they are 215/40/17. i was wondering how far can i go in width on the tires would 225 fit???? look at my pics in my gallery i have a pic of just one of the rims on there on the ground. tell me what u think i should do.

Your question is confusing. Are you looking for tires for SVT rims or Enkei rims. The SVT's are 7" wide. 215/45-17 tends to be the best choice for a street tire. Lots of tires available in this size and the aspect ratio provides adequate protection for the rims. The same size would probably work well on the Enkei's but it depends on their width and offset. There really isn't much to be gained going to 225's and rubbing problems could be an issue depending on which wheel you use and if you car is lowered.

I know WD-40 ran RT615s in 225/40 or /45 on his SVT, so I'd think its possible...but as noted you might run into rubbing problems depending on how far you're dropped. I think he was on stock SVT springs with KYB-AGX shocks/dampers.

ok cause my car is dropped 1.5 all around so i might stick with 215/40/17 for my enki's i dont want to run into rubbing problems. the enki's i have came off a 98 svt contour that was dropped 2 inch. but ya egman some one slashed my aftermarket rims :( haters.

Once again, double check the offset of those Enkei's. If its less than 45mm you still could have a potential rubbing problem even with 215's. Correct wheel offset is as critical as correct tire size and the two work hand in hand.

40 mm is (very) marginal at best. Way too many reports that they rub especially with any amount of lowering. I'm not sure that even rolling the fender lips will provide adequate clearance. You'd be much better off sticking with the SVT rims.

Too many people accept that some rubbing is acceptable. They're willing to foot around even the most minor obstacle for the sake of looks versus function. I find that completely unacceptable. You should be able to drive your car and not be afraid of that hidden pot hole and be able to drive over a speed bump rather than tippy toeing around and/or over it. There are correct wheel sizes, offsets, and lowering kits that allow this.

ya that is so true that ppl dont no how to handle that. my dad has a 03 svt zx5 and when i drive that thing i drive like im on ice being in michigan POT HOLE CITY lol. the enki's are 17x7 and offset is 40mm and the svt is 17x7 offset 49mm. the lowering kit i have on my car now is from steeda i placed my car with my dads svt rims on and it drove fine no rubbing. so you think i should be fine then if i stick with 215 or go to 205's instead of going higher to a 225
