Question Brake Life?

What is the average life span of brake pads front and rear in KMs?

No good answer to that question as there are too many variables. Every driver is different in how they apply and use their brakes. Terrain and speed are also major determining factors. Fronts will wear out before rears as they do the majority of braking. Its not unusual for a rear set to outwear two or three front sets. High performance brakes wear out quicker because they are softer. Longest wear will be from the hardest compounds (e.g. ceramics) but they will provide a little less performance as well. Sooooo, as you can set they are lots of factors. I like and use semi metallics like Axxis Metalmasters and Mintex and with my driving style I get +50K miles from a front set.

it all depends, i've seen front pads and rotors gone on focuses at less than 20k

i've also seen 100k focuses with factory shoes in the rear only 50% worn but the wheel cylinders blown out. it's all a crap shoot
