Question Clunking noise from rear of Stock SVT

I get this CLUNK when I brake, it's in the rear and I suspect ( but am no means sure) it's from the suspension.

What are the possible culprits and How do i diagonse them?

Thanks!

Just got to check under there and make sure everything is tight. It's a little hard to tell from your description... when exactly does it make the noise?

Check your exhaust for excessive play. I had a car with worn exhaust mounts and it would clunk over bumps... took me a few months to figure it out. It ended up being a cheap and easy fix.

Thanks STIVO, I'll check Exhaust mounts.
It Clunks right after I apply brakes. No noise over bumps

I'd start with the brakes then... checking the bolts and making sure everything is still tight. Look for signs of wear on the brakes, around the brakes. Sway bar end links... bolts in the suspension... Even check your wheel lugs!

Good luck!

Lugs were the first thing I checked...I've had a clunk before in the front and a lug was the cause

Check the rear caliper mounting bolts to see if they are tight. While you have the rear wheels off, look at the holes in the rotors where the wheel studs go through to see if they are ovalled out for some reason.

Also, check the rear brake pads to see if they are moving around too much in the caliper.

Got anything loose under the spare tire?

I hope this helps.

Well Duh uhUHHHHH!
This morning the clunk became a clunk clunk clunk after any speed change so I rechecked the lugs. The back lugs were tight as they were the last time I checked but the front driver side had 2 loose lugs.

Now the only clunking sound is the sound of my palm hiting my head.

Well STIVO you called it!

Well it sounded like it was in the rear but after tightening the lugs the sound is gone

I'll check that when I rotate my tires next month
