Before I buy some new wheels, I need advice...

Hi guys......ALOHA from the 808 state!!
I'm looking to buy some 18x7 rims from this shop I found.
Size: 18x7

+40 offset

Lugs: 4/5 x 100/114.3/108

My main question is, I dropped my car 2 in before and my 16 stocks would rub abit, now I've raised my car back up an inch and so the 18's should fit perfectly, but with the offset being +40, will it rub? Please let me know, I'm looking at these particular rims because of the wide lip.

Advise a noob please! and MAHALO!! (Thank you!)

Seems every car is different some have rubbing problems while others don't...me, I believe you will have problems with the 40mm offset. Generally 42mm offset is thought to be at the outer limits for the Focus.

It will depend on your tires as well, but with the +40mm offset, I would bet you will rub on the inner front fender. You might be able to pop the tab on the inner fender to stop the rubbing, but that's not a guarantee. I rub with +42mm offset on a Koni Sport suspension, but I also run Kumho MX's which generally have a wider section width than a less aggressive tire.

Of course, I only get rub under full suspension compression, so if you do not drive your car hard, you will rarely deal with this issue. My car rubs when the front suspension becomes fully compressed (such as bridge expanses, and autocross/track use).

What is a good offset for me to go by that won't produce any rubbing? I want to produce 2 things....1: Good lip amount and 2:A VIP type of look.
Thanks for the help guys!!
Mahalo again!!

If you could find a wheel that is 45mm to 48mm that would probably get you where you want.

Yep, but unfortunately, it's near impossible to find a good set in that offset let alone the limited selection.

You may also consider running a lower tire profile, but that can be risky since your rim will have less protection between it and the road. Rubbing is liveable as long as it's not rubbing all the time.

YOu really have the wrong car for that man. but if i remember http://www.r-1racingwheels.com/ and http://www.sportmaxwheel.com/ and http://www.bsa.com.my/web/newfproduct_full.htm
may have what you need. You may be fine with a 40mm offset as long as you get the proper tire for the stretched out VIP look. I would also go with a 7,5 or 8in wheel to help with that.
