I like A1 Cardone, shown in the link above.

Other than that, Ford are probably the highest quality. But they all still break. So I've been just swapping out lifetime warrantied GS-P brand axles on all of mine. $59 retail, no questions warranty coverage. i dont think I purchased a Focus axle years, but boy I've sure removed lots busted ones!!!

My latest victim:

Even Massive NA Zetecs rip prothane bushings, stock housings and axles to pieces! ;)

my car broke down out of town last week and i had to use a duralast cv axle driver side. inner boot appears to be stretched as you mentioned. it works, yet now i don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but upon braking the car shakes as if a wheel bearing is bad, and a suspension knocking has occurred which appears to be a bad strut. do you think the axle is the causing this?

Priceless.................

A1 Cardone NEW entire pass side to trans and $50..................running fine and changed last year. Can't beat it and don't see how they made any money there.

I'm a manager at autozone. Maybe it's not good to bash them as a whole because you had a bad experience. Did you know, many major repair shops use our parts to fix your cars? Our computers though not perfect are pretty accurate. 2 to 3 inches short?? That's a big difference, and the fact that you used it anyways even though it was clearly stretching? Not smart... but hey that's why they have warranties on their parts even if you mess it up... the manufacturer of your car may have made half year cars so a year older or newer is what your parts would be found under.

I think this might be the reason my carquest axle boot failed. Im really pissed cause the work and money involved. You need atleast one quart of tranny fluid ($25 mtf here) to do the job. Its under warranty but im not installing another POS part on my car or paying for another quart of oil. This is a serious safety issue too all so they can save a buck by usin some sweatshop in China. Has anyone used an aftermarket axle thats worked? I need one and donr wanna spend much and no my ******* threw the stock one away.
