I am now allowed to post on this forum!

Yesterday I bought a 2004 CD Silver SVT with Euro package so now I'll be spending most of my time perusing the SVT threads

It has 25,000 miles. The previous owner was a 48 year old who commuted back and forth between LA and SD. The car still has the original rubber's but they're getting pretty worn down...but at least I know it was driven nicely for it's life so far since the (original) brake pads still have some juice, and the tires still have about 2000 miles worth of tread left.

She is also under the 36K bumper to bumper and 100K mile warranty so if something goes wrong I can take her in to get her fixed.

I posted earlier in the general chat forum about SVT problems. I am kinda curious to find out from all of you since you're all (for the most part) SVT owners...what should I look out for as far as problems go? I never had a single problem with my ZX3..so I'm hoping my SVT will be similar.

rock on!

Dan K

I paid around 14K for it. I tried to talk him down but he got 5 calls for it the first day it was on autotrader so he was not going to budge. One of the biggest reasons I decided on it was that I owe 6500 still on my other focus, which means I would be paying for it until I graduate from college. So I figured everything out and I was able to make this car the same payment as my other car but for an extra 3 years. By the time I get outta college I will (hopefully) be making enough to pay it off really quickly and own the car instead of havin my sweet sweet title belong to my credit union. I got the best interest rate, however, from strong credit.

thanks brotha! I haven't had time yet cause of school and work...plus my sister jacked the digi...but when I see her tonight or tomorrow, I will definitely upload enough pics to set a 56K modem on fire.

I think I am going to keep this car relatively stock because I love it how it is. I will definitely be putting on a CAI though because I consider that a necessity for any and every vehicle. Which CAI would you all recommend I purchase? Do these SVT's benefit a lot from a CAI? The FS one REALLY opened up my 2.3 but it is a PZEV so it had like 20 feet of tubing from intake to motor.

edit: I MIGHT do a tune at some point...

Get an STS and a rear motor mount...I also loved my car the way it was before...but with those 2 mods i just love it even more. I would say get a tune...but i haven't gotten one yet myself...at least not yet.

I like the shifter as it is at least for now. I have a rear motor mount in my car for sale, so I may just swap it out. If I get a tune, I will probably not do it for a while but I will def. go with toms diablo tune.

I'm a little sad to find out my car doesn't have a LSD from the factory, but I am not gonna let it bring me down cause I'm in love with my SVT!!

So. I know the SVT is a very balanced car, but I am just wondering what makes it so balanced? It is so tight in the turns it's ridiculous! My buddy has a 3.2 CL-S and his car comes stock with a LSD. Do you guys think I could take him on the twisties?

^^ oH hell yes!!! sweet handling pocket rocket vs. psuedo luxury car. Sweet handling pocket rocket all the way man!!! IN a straight line thats a different story I don't know if the CL's extra weight gives enough of an advantage to the SVT though.

Yeah..I don't think I could take him in a straight line. His car has over 260 HP. It is a luxury car but it's definitely fast. I think it will get to 60 in the low 6's so he'll beat me.

Compared to a stock ZX3 what makes this SVT feel so much more solid on the road and handle so much better? I mean I have the SVT suspension, 215 ZR17" tires on my ZX3 2.3 and it just feels completely different!
