Is the SVTF No Longer?

hey guys. I was reading a magazine the other day talking about the new Focus ST for 2005. As I read on at the end of the article it said that rumors have it that after 2005 Ford will be discontinuing its prod. of SVTF's. Is this true? I'm not sure if they are remodeling it or making new mechanical and power improvements to it, but that is what it said in the article. If this is true I hope they bring that damn RS over here, and it better not be overpriced.

You heard correct. Ford will stop producing the SVTF for now.

Microtonal is correct, rumor has it that the SVTF will be back and better than before. Time will tell.

everything I have read said that SVT only wants their cars to be top-end cars ie all in the 30k+ price range and that is why they dropped the focus because it wasn't enough like the Cobra or Lightning, hell maybe they will make a Focus with the cobra engine and RWD like the conversion kit that is sold, that would put the focus in the $30k range hehe, not sure who all would buy a $30k focus even if it had all that cool stuff... I'm just glad I got an SVTF before they are gone

Ford is just full of stupid moves. The focus hatch when first released was targeted at the fast growing sport compact segment. The SVT-F was brought out mainly for the the sport compact enthusiasts to compete with cars (and beat) like the Civic SI, Integra, RSX, eclipse, cavi, etc. While I was kinda disappointed that the Cobra got about 110hp increase over the GT and the Lightening got about 200hp (not to mention the new 500/500 6-speed Lightening coming in 05) increase over the base F150. I was actually speculating that they may come out with something similar to the RS (which only difference is its boosted and comes with the Quaife... right?) which i can see them costing maybe about 25-26k. That would seem like a smart move. But I dont think many adults are going to wanna drive a 30k+ focus hatch... do you?

If I'm not mistaken in 2005 there will be no release of any SVT. In 2006 SVT will debut the Cobra and Lightning. Whatever else, who knows, Ford is toying around with possibilites. I'll do a search for this topic, which has been discussed several times on the forum.

thats correct... originally SVT was supposed to take a break this year and redesign the Cobra and Lightening which made me wonder if they were going to do the same thing with the Focus.
