piranha edition svt

I was at the dealership getting my power steering hose replaced
I was told that they didn't have the hose for my SVT because I had a different edition called the "piranha" they had the hose for the zetec and the regular SVT but not mine something about a sensor at the beginning of the line..

The question being what is a piranha edition SVT?

If I remember correctly Piranha was the code name for the SVT while they were first building it. Maybe someone else knows for sure?

From what I understand they were debating calling it a pirahna like cobra is mustang, but the piranha name was already trademarked by someone else, anyways thank god they didn't name it that, I don't think I could buy a car called a SVT "piranha"

Looks like they just told you a line of bull****!
They did use some sort of diversionary tactic by mentioning Pirahna. Some of us know that this was supposed to be a developmental codename or working title for our cars.

There surely is not a Pirahna model SVTF or I would have heard of it. Be sure to tell them "whatever - when are you going to replace my hose"?

This could be the only thing that I don't understand is why they have two different SVT's a "piranha" and a regular SVT.....

Today at the dealership they said they had a hose for the SVT but not mine cuz it was a "piranha" edition SVT (something about a sensor at the begining of the line)... Does anyone else have a sensor connected to the line that crosses the top of the block(it's by the pump)?

BTW mine is an '03 infra red with everything but the euro package and the cold weather package (tcs, heated seats)

I think that i'm going to call the SVT people pn monday to find out what the he!! their talking about..

Also they were being kinda cool about the whole thing they put the car on the rack in under 5 minutes and worked on it for 30 minutes then when they were looking for the line they stated the difference I asked the mechanic later and he said he had never seen a foci SVT like this.

also the mechanics knew that I don't need the car for a full week as I will be in georgia and I have an extended warranty so I got a rental I didn't need the car so there was no reason for them to lie.

When ordering parts for an SVT the name piranha sometimes comes up. Its not a special edition. There is nothing different about your car then any other SVTF.

I check with SVT and they said that it is a engineering name for the SVT Focus and sometimes gets translated to the SVT foci parts. he said something about this happening with the cobra and the name "terminator".

Why didn't for market the SVT as the Piranha? I would rather be able to tell people I own a "Ford Piranha" instead of a "Ford Focus SVT". The Lightning got a nickname and its no more performance oriented than the Focus.

I imagine alot of SVT owners wouldn't have bought one if it was called "piranha"
