SVTF to ZX3

hi, today i just brought my car into get my rotors resurfaced because the steering wheel vibrates like crazy when i'm coming to a stop and also getting a pressure test on my coolant because i just filled it up to the Max line last week and now it's down to Min already, but anyways back on topic, i was given a rental of a ZX3, and the very first thing i noticed was that the steering wheel on the regular ZX3 was ALOT tighter then on my SVTF, is this normal? because i don't like how our SVTF's steering wheel is kinda loose, not totally but kinda like easy to turn and when i'm accelerating from a stop light (not dragging the car) the wheels either turn to the left or right and when i go over roads that are less then perfect it tends to follow the curved lines! does anyone have the same problems as me or is it just me? and also is there a fix to make the steering wheel more tight when turning without removing the power steering? thanks for your help guys/girls

What you're feeling in you're SVTF is called Torque steer. It is worse in the SVT than the ZX3 because the SVT has more power.

i know i made it sound really bad earlier but in reality it's not totally loose, it just feel like it's just not as tight as the regular ZX3, i actually got it back tonight and i asked them about that and they told me that the power steering is controled by the ECU so it can't be changed, cause i asked if i can get it stiffer (don't think nasty now) and he said no, so i guess there really isn't any options for me except remove power steering! how do i remove power steering if i really wanted to?

Well, the right way to remove the power steering is to find a manual rack you can use on the car and do that. Some people just get rid of the pump and cap the lines, but that isn't the right way to do it. Manual steering has a nicer feel than power steering IMO, and you will get a hp or two freed up. I'd probably only do that on a project car though, because having power steering in the city is nice.

I've never had a problem with torque steer. Maybe my car is a factory turd.

Torque steer only occurs on FWD cars correct?

Keep in mind the tighter suspension on the svtf, that could contribute to your car feeling a little more difficult to control around bouncy corners. As for torque steer, i love it! It reminds me how much more power i have then my girlfriends zx3. I hvaen't had any problems with my steering.... although, i went from a 87 Blazer to my focus so i really don't have anything to compare to... I'll take my girlfriends for a drive sometime soon and then maybe i'll be able to see what your talking about.

You won't find torque steer with rear wheel drive. If you got limited slip diff would you get rid of torque steer? just wondering, sorry sorta off the topic
