SVTF header

i just recently got the high performance ford focus builders handbook and it had an aftermarker header from focus central for an svtf. does anybody have the focus central race header and if so where can i get it and does it really improve hp? according to the book it puts out 9hp at 6,500 and improves the power output from 3,500 to 7,000

dude i wouldn't do it. it's one of the best things SVT did to the focus. i wouldn't do it. why did you buy a SVT focus if you're just gonna swap out the parts that made it what it is?

Keep the factory SVT header, it is the best header on the market for the SVTF! Accept NO substitutions! :-)

When our engine and concurent parts were designed for optimum performance, Cosworth and SVT did an excellent job on the exhaust system in our cars and there is VERY little room for improvement in that regard.

Now, IF you want to go FI (Forced Induction) things change but if not stay with the factory header.

EDIT: Even with FI, our stock header is unbeatable at this time.

^^^ OK, I wasn't considering a ORP in that scenerio, my bad ..... as far as the header itself, I have yet to see a better one available for the SVTF ,,, or any other Focus for that matter but that's just me :-)

Actually I read the article over, it was comparing the FC long tube vs the stock header with stock cat vs ORP. Personally I feel that this book is like a total advertisement for FC. I only use it to figure out I want/how to install. I can see how they got "gains" from using the long tube header because its basically like droppin a ORP in there. The way they have the graph and this test set up is kind of odd because they are testing 2 different parts and comparing stock cat v ORP, and then in the next graph comparing stock SVT header with stock cat to the FC long tube header. (maybe that didn't make full sense).

I would say keep the stock headers thats what came with the car they are pretty good if you change it it would be like buying a viper and putting a honda civic motor in it

that's what i was saying in my earlier post. i don't see what the point is in buying an SVT if you're just going to swap out the parts that make the car great
