Who has the "Random Misfire" Code?

Just curious who here has had the "Random Misfire" (330-334) code on their SVTF?

1) What cylinder misfires?

2) What parts have been replaced to cure it.

3) Is it cured?

Me:

1) #1

2) Entire Ignition; coil, wires, plugs (twice)

3) No. Well, I have Live Wires and never had the code (maybe once). I am back on the stock ignition and got it right away (even swapping from OEM plugs to NGK's to Denso).

*I'm wondering if its an injector or injector wire. Its the only other thing.

usually a random misfire indicates a bad coil. a bad plug or wire will usually just set a single cylinder misfire code, ie. P0301, P0302, etc. when the coil goes bad, most of the time, just one side of the coil goes out, so it causes two cylinders to misfire, which can set off a random misfire code (P0316 I believe). when it's fuel related, it's usually an injector that's been stuck closed. sometimes tapping on a suspect injector firmly (but not TOO firmly) can get it to open up and start working again, at least for a bit. harness issues aren't too common, but make sure your injectors are all plugged in securely

Have you checked your excitor wire harness? This plugs into the coilpack. It's too short, so with the heat and engine movement it can fail.

1) #3

2) plugs, wires, coil and cam position sensor.

3) It got fixed when the motor blew and Ford put a new one in.

They also replaced the injector and intake.
