What I would do is try turning the fans by hand with the car OFF and see if the blades are hitting anything. If not, go back and make sure all the screws you had to R&R are tight and that the plugs are tight and all the wire boot's are snug in place. Other than that, I would have to hear the noise to make any further diagnosis.

Yes, they will run when you are stopped to maintain engine temp but they won't run while driving down the road because you get ample airflow through the radiator while the vehicle is moving.

screw

i would say go to a parts store or sears and buy a magnet. one that extends to reach and just move it around the area where you dropped it. it should be able to locate it but it also may come out while driving. good luck

Be careful because those fans can turn on when the car is off. If you dropped it down by the fan it should have fallen out because there isn't any way of keeping the screw held against a blade. Also, are you sure it isn't an electrical whirring coming from your distributor?

There is no distributor...we have a "crank fired" ignition.

Ugh I meant the SD coil pack...Sorry for using old school terminology..

I know the newer cars don't have a distributor...my 88 Ranger did though lol
