Rare Svt Cosworth Prototype Svt For Sale

I just recieved a call with an offer to buy a one of a kind SVT from a family friend.

About 5 months ago, a family friends son bought an 02 svt focus. Nothing rare aparently about it. He thought it was just a normal SVT.

Skip ahead to last week. He blew the clutch in the car, and took it to get it fixed at a ford dealer. The dealer went to put a clutch in. Wouldn't fit. Ordered a new one in, thinking it was misboxed. New clutch still wouldn't fit.

The dealer called up ford international to figure out what was going on. The answer they got from ford was quite suprising. Ford says that the car was a Cosworth prototype that was never to be titled.

It has a Cosworth engine and a tranny that ford international called "bulletproof" apparently the new clutch package is coming in from england.

Not sure how many of these were produced, but it may be 1 of 1 possibly?

He offered to sell the car to me for what he has in it fixed. $12,500

question is, is this worth buying and storing? the car has 70k on it, so milage is a little high for an 02. any opinions.

Crazy. Definately should have it checked out and see if it's a one-of.

Yes, 02 was the first year it came out.

Anyone know what the Cosworth motor puts out? isn't this the engine they put in the MK2?

The MK2 has a turbo engine. Cossies usually put out about 150 N/A the last time I looked.

take some pics of the engine and tranny for us, maybe we can identify how different it is from the outside of the engine and tranny.

I have one of the first SVTs from 02. I have not yet had to replace anything in the transmission and mine has almost 60k miles on it.

Makes me wonder now.
