NOT another Clutch Thread!!

Hey everyone, well My question is I am ordering a Clutchmasters stage 2 or 3, and I want to leave my stock dual mass flywheel in there, one because I dont have the money, two, I dont want the extra noise, and 3 i dont like leaving the line with a lightened flywheel, I need all the momentum i can get. MY QUESTION is I have had the latest Clutch TSB done about 4 months ago, and Will my Stock flywheel bolt up to an aftermarket clutch? ALSO will i have any problems if i continue to use my stock flywheel. Because IIRC they revised all the parts again, and did away with the DUal mass flywheel and put in a diff flywheel. I am not sure, but I wanted to know what u all think. Thanks for taking the time.

I did a "search" and found that someone mentioned that the SVTF Dual Mass Flywheel has too much play for an aggressive, aftermarket sprung disk. Don't know if that will help you out or not, but you said that they put in a diff flywheel....its still a dual mass flywheel, only revised. I think if you're tearing into the tranny, you should replace it anyways, but if only been in for 4 months, I guess it would be ok. If the stock clutch will bolt up the an aftermarket flywheel, I don't see any reason why a stock flywheel wouldn't bolt up to an aftermarket clutch.

As far as I know, they did not revise out the dual mass flywheel to a solid one.

Momentum has nothing to do with launching...momentum helps you maintain the rotation of the mass. If you were driving a NASCAR vehicle, you'd probably want a heavy flywheel. If you were driving a dragster, you'd want a lighter flywheel.

Ok, Well momentum or not, It is more tricky to launch a car with a lighter flywheel. BUt my question is if I still have the dual mass, will it cause problems with an aftermarket clutch? It IS only like 4 months old, but my slave cylinder is going bad, and I need to just get it over with and replace my clutch with a good one. I just dont want the stock flywheel to cause problems, Any other input on that?

If your slave cylinder is going bad, something happened with the install that caused it most likely....

bump, Will I see problems if I replace the clutch with a stage 3 and stay with stock flywheel? IS it better to get a Stage 3 unsprung, since the stockie is unsprung, would it work better?
