flywheel 9lb or 12lb

Well , Im stuck between a 9lb fidanza or a 12 pound fidanza..Is there that much diffrence between the 2..Is one stronger then the other due to the fact that its lighter...And just to clarify this , the clutch kit is what comes with the TOB , right? The flywheel just comes by itself as a unit meaning its just the flywheel itself I found a good deal on a 9lb and 12lb flywheel that I cant pass up..Thanks in advance guys..

Don't know about the clutch kit, but the reason for getting a light weight flywheel over stock is less mass is easier to move. It will let you rev a bit better. That being said, I would go with the heavier (midweight) flywheel based on personal preference, a lot of people don't like the sound your car will take on with such a light flywheel, but they are both fairly light so they probably produce close to the same effect.

I actually didn't know two were offered, good to know.

I am looking for either some 5spoke SVT wheels or RS wheels at a good price, send me a PM (preferably with existing tires.. preferably with existing tred heheheh) or maybe even some of the euro 15 (is it 15?) spoke wheels, black.

can't speak from personal experience but everyone i've talked says the 9lbs is crap. the car falls flat on its face the second you take your foot off the gas and it tends to stall out a lot.

go with the 12.

From what I was told the 9# on the Fidanza webpage listing the SVT flywheel is a typo its actually 12#.

Also the real 9# flywheel is for a Zetec not an SVT.

The 9lb is for the Zetech and the 12lb is for the SVT. I know because I just bought the Fidanza 12lb SVT Flywheel and I am having it installed Tuesday along with a Clutch Masters Stage 3 Clutch and Quaife Differential.

12# is what you want anyway. 9# flywheel is just too light for that car. Like 2004SVTAutoXer
said, it will make the throttle very touchy when on and off the gas. That is why it comes with the obnoxious 40 pounder(<-may be exagerating), it keeps the revs up. The thing that you wil gain is the quick rev up compared to the lag you have now. Just my 2 cents.

How can you guys say the 9# flywheel is too light when they dont even make one for the SVT??

Besides you still have to factor in the weight of the clutch and pressure plate which is another few pounds.

I thought Wayne had a 9# flywheel in his SVTF . . . I could be wrong.

No, there is not such thing as a 9lb SVTf flywheel. Only 12lb. I know I did all the research and those advertising a 9lb SVTf flywheel are getting them mixed up with the ZX3 Flywheel for the MTX-75 Transmission.

SVTf has the 6 spd Getrag.
