Lightbulb Traction Control and ABS are they the same?

Traction Control and ABS are they the same or are they separate?

You would think that when the current leaves the fuse it would get split between the ABS and the TC. I mean the TC and ABS have to be separate. Right? They just use the same fuse. If this were so then could you find the TC itself and unplug it? Or hook up a new switch or heck reroute the wire to the original switch so it works like it should. The car does come without TC and still ABS. This would tell me they would have to be separate.

Just a thought...

I will let the techs figure this one out...

Again I apologize for being a newb, but do all SVTFs have TC? I could have sworn I saw a TC light come on when I was rounding a corner and punching it while straightening out. It felt like the car bogged and it looked like the TC light I have seen before while driving my old Bullitt and my friend's 04T-bird. Then I go to look for the switch to turn it off and no such switch exists!!!! Is this what everyone is taling about by removing TC, by switching it off on cars that don't come equipped with the buttons?

TC is a piggyback system on ABS sensors.. the same goes foe EBD (although no Focis have EBD).

ABS is the core system that contains the chip and senors determining slippage of wheels. However the action after slippage is determined depends on the system:

ABS reduces brake force to that wheel,
TC reduces accelration power to all driven wheels
and
EBD adds braking power to wheels not slipping.

So I guess electronically EBD and TC are embedded in ABS.

I am not sure whether I answered your question, though.

If you're talking about pulling the TC fuse, it will also disconnect your ABS, not to mention, it messes with your proportioning valve, sending 80% of your braking power to the rear wheels.

i think the easiest way to check is above the heated seats button (passenger side) there is a button there if you have TC, if you dont have TC there is no button there simple as that.

Nope not all SVTf's came with tc. I'm glad mine doesn't from all the issues I've heard.

the TC uses the ABS system to do its job. if your car didn't come with TC, you only have an ABS computer, but if your car came with TC, it's a different part number, but the one computer does both ABS and TC

That SUCKS!

Well it was worth a shot. You just never know. I know the best way to fix it is by a tune, but I don’t have $400 right now. I’m sure it would cost alot and be way too hard to replace the ABS unit with the non TC unit even from a salvage yard. I guess I will just save my pennies and do it the right way…

Thanks for the help…

As far as I know, in Europe all Focis came with ABS+EBD, at least mine (2001 Futura wagon)has it and I also have TCS or BTCS. I fact I am curious what TC do I have BTCS(that works under 65km/h) or TCS that works also at higher speeds. And after that I would ask what difference is between TCS and ESP ?
