Would a side exit exhaust present more HP?

I've noticed on some of the tuned Focus' out there (like that blue drift wagon in the last issue of FocusFanatic Mag), they had the exhaust exit near the back of the side skirt. I'm wondering, since the SVTf's exhaust really can't get any better coming out the back, does this side exit exhaust present an opportunity to give us more like 7-10 HP more? Why? I've seen a few California Concepts with side exit exhaust before so I know you can make it look clean.

I highly doubt it would be 7 or more hp increase, if any at all.

side exhaust rarely ever makes more power than a regular out the back exhaust. this is a proven fact on other cars like mustangs, camaro's, etc.

The HPA Wagon you speak of has a 05 GT mustang motor in it...It can get away with the dual side exhaust.... With a 4 banger, on the street...you're not gonna gain anything but chuckles from people....

I would have to agree with the above posts, not much of a gain if any at all. And yeah, with side exit exhaust on a car like the Focus, you will prolly get some chuckles, and some just might laugh it up lol ...... for the sake of all SVTF kind, don't do it lol

side exhaust alone will not give you an increase in HP. Now,,combine that with some decals and you may notice an increase.

now if you ran an open header you would gain some power up top but you might get a complaint or two from others, might be a bit loud. someone on here tried it just for kicks and he said it sounded like a flock of chainsaw's on nitrous LOL
