Thinking about an SVT!!!

Well i find a realyl good deal on an 03 svt 5 door in my area...12995, and only 7500miles on it. No euro pkg but its got HIDS, doesnt say but it looks like its got a sunroof as well. Any way my car has been having problems...besides the 19miles per gallon im getting, and ford didnt find anything wrong, so i really dont see it being safe driving a car that can stall out at anytime so ive been looking around for a possible replacment and i would trade my car in. Autotrader doesnt say that it has many options, but what kinda sound system do they come iwth, do all the svts come with the audiofile system and the 6 disc cd changer or was that an option. Also what can i expect from this car, like problems that could happen and such. I wanna mod my car but i keep feeling like its pointless, b/c for one i have the atx and ill have to dump a bunch of money into it to get in anywhere near as fast as an svt focus, and this svt is only going to cost me hopfully a couple of grand more ontop of my car. Basically i posted this to get more opinions from the svt guys and what kinda problems ill face and what options come standard with the svt. Thanks

Also what kinda mpg is everyone getting with their svt?

This sounds like a no brainer.. Read your post again, you kinda argued FOR buying the SVT.. I'd go for it... Part out your ATX, and let me know if you want to get rid of anything... hehe

Audiophile is (or was, I guess) an option, but it was a fairly popular option I think.

If you want to know potential problems, a search of the SVT forums here will supply you with ample reading.

Gas mileage has also been discussed, but it varies on your driving style and how much city versus highway driving. I do a lot of city driving and a fair amount of "spirited acceleration" and get in the low to mid 20's.

Standard options, well there are too many to list. The standard radio is just a single disc deck. The audiophile is an option, and the other options are the EAP, HIDs, Heated Seats, Traction Control, Engine Block Heater, and Sunroof. I have had my SVT since March of 04 and have yet to have any major problems with it. I have had the ECU reflashed, and the a/c fixed because it was empty of refrigerant when I got it. Unless you like a lurching car, let it warm up when you start it. And be prepared for repeated wheel cleaning.

^^03svtf+7500mi+$13,000=sounds like a good deal to me

at 7500 mi, u shouldnt have a whole list of probs, although some people on the forum would beg to differ. It really depends on the car your considering, give it a thorough look and use your discretion.

I own a 2004 zx5 svtf, bought it used but with only 1100 miles on it. At about 7000mi,
I discovered a leak on one of the power steering pump gaskets. Had Ford replace it under warranty, same day service too. No other problems so far.

I have the Audiophile 9006 (6 disc changer) coz I have the euro package, I believe its standard for the euro pack. The "stock" radio for the non-euro svt's is the Audiophile 6006 (single CD) IIRC.

MPG is not too bad, I get about 21 street and 25 hwy.

Bottom line...I love what SVT has done to the focus, its almost perfection. A lot of SVTF owners would agree with that.

Good luck on your decision!

well if i get an svt....ill be having a used volant intake and snorkle for sale which are both in good condition....plus ull get a complimenty side snorkle that extends to the lower grill lol. If it was all me id do it as long as i knew i would be able to afford it. Right now im basically on a thread with money and i sometimes have to borrow money from my parents for gas, basically checks only come every other week and then i cant go to the bank till the end of the week. But ill definilty get another job or work a crap load of more hours so i can afford this....its not going to be all that much more expensive honestly id probably have to make like no more then 100bucks more a month. I have a problem though...i dont know how to drive stick so this will be my first stick car....my mom does and can teach me but i also drive to school and back 4 times a week, which is a good 100miles a week. The only time i have to learn is basically weekends until my month long winter break...but if i wait all the way to december for this, it might not be there...hell this car might not be there next week b/c this is an amazing deal. Ill definitly miss my 6disc cd changer though

I think the biggest issue is the DSI Actuator (dealer calls it the Duel Stage Intake Control Runner). Make sure you don't hear any strange sounds on the right side of the engine bay (facing the car).
