Just hit 30k and...

well acually im 11 miles from hitting 30 k, and my car has been going through some gas, i work like 20 mins away, not even getting on it it still tends to use a quater tank just basiclly there im beting i get like 15-17mpg. So im wondering what could casue this, the car is running normal going in toomorow for YFRO. But besides that runs perfect, i took the lil snorkel out for stock intake, but im putting a cone filter in tomorrow after ford dealer.. Any advise...

20 mins hiway or 20 mins city?

for city driving, that sounds about right, if you're shifting upwards of 4k. try shifting at 2500-3000, it bumped my mpg up a bit.

if that's your hiway mileage...complain to ford

15-17 sounds about right. That's what I get going down hill with the wind blowing my direction with the a/c off and the windows up....It's pretty crappy mileage, but I have learned to deal with it. People say the have gotten up to 30mpg in their SVTF, but I think that is highly unlikely. The new car sticker says 21 city and 25 hwy.

The crappy mileage doesn't bother me anymore as I have an Escort and a Saturn for my daily drivers.

That doesnt sound right at all. I drive 50 miles a day and spend about 2 hrs in the car in stop and go traffic. I still get 26mpg. Even when i didnt have the tune i would get around 23. Best i ever got was 35mpg going 65 mph but that was with focussport tune.
Just do a basic 30k mile maint. If you have an air intake you can also clean up the mass air flow. The oil from the filter tends to put a film on them and then it doesnt read accurate.
Tell the dealer to give your car to a driveability technician and have him look at your short term and long term fuel trims BEFORE he updates the pcm. That will tell you if the car is running rich. If its not under warranty they will probably charge you an hr labor to check it out. Your crappy mileage might possibly just be the pcm flash that you have.

^^^What he said...the best ever was 37mpg. No joke, no lies, I take extra care reading my mileage, and that's what it was.

something is definitely wrong there...i get 15-17mpg with a HORRIBLY slipping clutch, 2 bent rims and possibly a wheel bearing problem and this is in nyc pot hole galore and stop and go traffic driving. I do shift at around 3-4k though. I'd imagine when i get everything straightened out in due time then i'd get around 20-25mpg which would make me happier.

Same as my best. I go get 32-34 mpg on the highway pretty often though.
