ORP vs. ORP w/HFC Questions

Time for me to get an ORP as I just ordered Tom's Tune. My main concern going with an ORP is increased noise and buzziness in regards to exhaust tone. I was contemplating running an ORP w/HFC but how much quieter would this actually be? Are the gains from running an ORP compared to one with a HFC negligible?

Regardless of which route I opt for, will adding another resonatoror 2 to quit the exhaust back down hurt my power gains at all or are resonator simply noise killers? My current setup is a Borla catback w/Borla resonator and muffler.

Sean

HFC isn't a power killer, you can run that for easier compliance without loosing anything noticeable.

Just a quick clarification too it's either an orp or a hfc.

But I've heard that you only get the droniness (yep new word) with the stock Svt exhaust and the orp...

Any idea what the sound difference is like? I will have a tune and Oregon doesn't crawl under the car to inspect cats or no cats. As long as it passes the OBDII test, it's fine.

Again, only reason for even thinking of HFC version is to quiet down. I thought about running my Borla resonator along with 1 or 2 generic 14" resonators along with my muffler but will all those resonators kill power or simply soften the tone?

Good clarification, I was thinking about that but decided he meant that either was officially "off road". Don't usually put it that way.

Grassroots Motorsport did a good comparison a while back testing CATS since they're required for most racing now. HFC's didn't have an appreciable effect vs. straight pipe, so that's my "official" data for the comment. Current designs of all don't have the restriction of the originals that were a different setup (old ones weren't a honeycomb style).

Ill likely just go with the ORP since its cheaper and just throw a crap ton of resonators under it to quiet it down. Its the raspiness (new word) I am worried about. And yes, I really feel like they should both be considered "ORP's" one just has a HFC :).

resonators will no kill power. they will just kill certain "bad" sound frequencies. resonators are a straight through design.

The tune itself should quiet it down, try the ORP then upload the tune and see if the sound changes.

For the short time my buddy had an SVT he put on a custom exhaust (single muffler) and it was loud and ugly, after Toms tune it sounded like a completely different car and it was much quieter and sounded pretty good.
