TSB questions (Do I have to pay for this?)

So lemme get this straight. Since I am over the warrantee mileage of my car 50K if I go to the ford dealers and tell them I have problems with anything in the TSB's (Example clutch, idling problem, etc) I have to pay out of my pocket?

With this aside I have an appointment for my clutch master cylinder leakage. Should I bring in the TSB's for the rest of these problems?

Your car has an extended 100,000 mile/5 year warranty on the drivetrain, which includes the engine and the transmission. If you're not the first owner, just make sure you go to a Ford dealership and transfer the warranty in your name (that does not move with the car like standard limited warranty). It should be covered, I think. Check your warranty information in your glovebox, and you'll find what the extended warranty covers.

It never hurts to argue for the TSBs, so I'd do it anyway. Unless they determine the cause isn't related to the TSBs, then you might be able to still get it. I don't know for sure. Read the provisions for the warranty in your manual and read the provisions for the TSBs.

TSB - Technical Service Bulletin. I had to google it the first time I saw it to find out.

Okay thanks for mentioning this. I am the second owner of this car and I'm still kind of unsure as to what you meant by this. Since I have an appointment tomorrow for my "minor" problems, I should also go to them and tell them i am a second owner and want to transfer the 100,000 mile powertrain Warranty under my name.

I'm just a little frantic right now because I know I'm going to be spending a chunk of change on this and I wanted to go in and have an idea about how much money I would be spending so it doesn't hit me so hard in the end

When you go to the Ford Dealership, just talk to the secretary about with whom you need to speak to get the warranty transfered. There's a $50 transfer fee I'm told just so you know.

Be firm about things. Most dealerships do not try to honor warranties if the consumer is ignorant of their warranty and setforth policies. Oh, and be sure to get your free vacuum and car wash that comes with owning an SVT (yes, I'm being serious) every time you take it in to have it serviced.

If you can't get it fixed under warranty for whatever reason (which I've read the clutch slave cylinder can go out on our cars - even in the TSB I believe), I would look into a new transmission of your choice. There are much better trannies out there that are more durable and reliable - but that's worse case scenario.

Thanks for all that insight. I will mention all this stuff to them prior to handing over my car.

The extended warranties didn't start until the late 2003 models and all the 2004 ones. All I got was the standard 3yr 36k miles.

I've got an 04 and that extended warranty is crap, there is a deducible you have to pay even with the extended warranty. Many times it's $100 and in my case it was $50. So unless your entire transmission or something is destroyed that extended warranty is a big waste.
