Looking to buy 04 SVT.

I'm looking to trade in my AUTO burgandy 04 SE sedan for a Blue 04 SVT. This SVT has 18,659 miles, looks like its in good condition. The Ford dealer wants $15,995 for it. I am just really tired of the auto tranny. Do you think this is a good deal? I will be looking to upgrade whatever car I am stuck with. Can the 2.0 SVT really get more power than the 2.3 with an auto? Here's a link to the ad for the SVT:

i was going to get a nice looking SVT just like that one. very very the same. almost the same price. but i got my ST and im glad i got it. right now i can almost kill the SVTs, i never raced them but i have raced spec V and they faster than SVTs and i hang with them very good. my car cost me 14K. id does not have the leather seats but i like the black with red a lot better. with simple bolt-ons I/H/E you can out preform an SVT. they have a better engine. but they may not be as good looking as the SVT's but they are nice and fast.

i love my ST. so if i was you i would go with the ST. for maybe less money. i dont know how much they cost over there but here they range from 14k-19k. NEW

I would definatley go for it. To me, it's an investment. The SVT is no longer in production so several years down the road they may be worth more, who knows. When I bought my ZX3, the dealer had a used Silver '04 SVT for sale but they were asking $18,000 and it had over 20k miles on it and a big scratch in the rear bumper. I could have probably offered less but I'm sure it would have still been out of the range I was looking at (you need to put some limit on what you are willing to spend). I went on Kelly Blue Book and high blue book was listed at 15k, so they were asking way too much.

Your ST can almost beat them but you never raced one I have raced an ST and a SPEC V and beat both petty good. As for the purchase, go for it. You will love the SVT. Most "NON" SVT owners always get hung up on the straight line performance but the SVTF is so much more. The car is very well rounded and a blast to drive.

Yeah, I gotta go with Hellacool on this one - you can almost kill them, yet you have never actually raced one? Did I mention I can hang with SRT-4s? Never raced one, but I figure...

MarksPZEV have you taken it for a test drive yet, or driven an SVT before? Do that before thinking about things much, you have to know whether or not you will even like driving the car before putting too much thought into it. Some people drive one and decide it's not for them, some drive one and are hooked immediately.

FWIW, Last September ('04) I purchased my '04 SVTF Brand New and paid $16,400. Loaded up except for the Euro Package.

IMO, you should be able to knock that price down at least a grand.

As mentioned above, drive it first and see if you like it before you worry about making a deal.
