Question No FI For Me, So What Now?

Hey All,

Next Thursday, the house I'm living in closes escrow and I'm moving back home for a couple months. The great part of this is that I get back the Rental and Utilities $ I put into this house for the past year and a half!

Now, here's the deal: I'm an indie music artist who also happens to have an addiction not only for expensive recording projects, but a real affinity for my ride. I've been promising myself that I would make some upgardes to my BabyBlu as soon as I came into money, and it looks like now's the time. At first, I was thinking of going FI, but I'm also planning an expensive recording project and cannot afford both. Unfortunately, music wins out, since it's my career.

So, I was planning on these mods: CAI, Throttle-Body, and perhaps an under-drive pulley. I was thinking of an AEM cold-air-intake, and going Steeda for the throttle-body and the udp. Any thoughts on these? Suggestions and reasons for going with these or with a different brand?

I'm open to any suggestions...So, type away!

Oh, and of course a custom tune for my ride once those mods and/or any others are installed, to bring everything together as nicely as possible.

Again, not looking for a quarter mile or track monster, just a bit more hump and driveability when I step on the peddle!

Keep this in mind.. and I am speaking as a fellow musician....

You'll EVENTUALLY get rid of your car...

....but music lasts forever.

CrazyMatt -- Werd! Now, as far as what mods to put on my car? As far as the CAI is AEM the way to go? How is Focus Sports? And, does anyone at all have an opinion about which Steeda products work, or is there a better way to go?

Anyone, anyone...?...Bueller...?...

All your choices are good ones. I highly recamend aem cai. I do believe in steeda, however, I feel that they over charge, and do so by name sake. Case in point, ford racing v.s. steeda short shifter. difference in dollars about 25 or so less to buy from ford, Same product. I would also look into the K&N typhoon filter system. A short ram with heat shield, benefit, stay cleaner longer, and if you think you will end up with hydo lock with aem(which you won't) also K&N has been in the business a long time. in place of udp's i would choose msd coil and wires combo with a nice ngk plug or you could go denzo. Go with the FC throttle body as steeda's is the same, just more dollars. once again cause they can. and last the tune.

I do think steeda products are good and most will offer performance #ers aswell, They are just over priced do to R&D and the name plate.

Hey medic, Thanks for those. I'll definitely check those out. Question tho', bc I'm actually not as hip to all the lingo as I should be, What is the difference between the AEM CAI and the Short Ram w/Heat shield; I'm assuming those are two different products all together that work for the same thing? I ask, bc I looked on Focus Sport and they had the Short Ram / heat shield for the SVT. Are these two different intake apps? Which one would you recommend then, CAI or the Short Ram?

And, yea, I was also looking into the K&N Typhoon Filter sys...All these are great 'minor' mods that I think would be perfect.

Thanks again...

Hypnotic exhaust with Random Technologies High-Flow Cat.

the best im my mind for what it's worth in $ for hp.... i'd go for a random tech ORP or Random tech Cat, then next comes the AEM CAI and then the UDP and then the Tune. those mods will give the most HP/$...
